Enabling
Summary: Allowing something to happen that shouldn’t. In many cases - misguided and uneducated, following an idea, manipulated through pressure and deception via an affected truth bias and assumption.
In a narcissistic system - he is the first to extend the professional victim card on behalf of a Cluster B Personality Disorder when fear of exposure is elevated. Henchman, Flying Monkeys and secondary abusers are all enablers.
Also - enabling someone who has an addiction or an obsession with the assumption the matter will change on its own, so just give a little more to the cause. The delusion cycle continues and the abuse cycles continues with numbers.
Brute force or intervention is required in some cases.
In Story Drama, it can be the parent who allows the child to hurt others with hope that something good will come from the action one day. Or that love blinds the damaging causes of someone who hurts others.
In the TV series The Patient, the mother is the enabler, allowing the kidnapped person to remain locked in the lower room of the house. When given the opportunity, a choice is made to go along with the cause that her son created. Justifications are made when a moral person would choose different in the moment and from the start.
