Stoicism vs Hedonism
Summary - If someone cannot tell the difference… learn via reading a new book on older perceptions. If the response is ‘whatever’, then at least one approach has been experienced.
It’s not a scale from calm to cartwheels, not at the core.
True or False: A person can spot the bias and pathways everywhere by knowing both philosophies and knowing why both exist.
True or False: It’s not just what a person does; it’s how they do it that gives away all that is needed to see what is really going on.
True or False: Fulfilment comes in all shapes and sizes via different pleasures… pick your poison or pick your pleasure.
One option plays a part in the development through childhood, teenage release and adult self-awareness… until a higher form of awareness is noted. Linking to purpose after the escapism party is over… maybe.
With so many influences, good or bad, various circumstances to consider, including place in time or location… how can one size fit all? It can’t. Can one generation adjust to the tragedy of a new generation while the culture around the ‘self’ is still doing something else?
It's probably why so many learn singularly, in their own time, at the right time, and only after a few options have been tried… unless they join or create a cult, enmeshment with dysfunction or have a control issue… learning in the wrong direction.
Every cause has its reason, making life colourful and exciting. It’s a big world with many systems in place; some are head-scratchers (not to pass judgment). At the very least, we all have reflection… which overrides everything and is quickly forgotten if one is not careful being busy flying too close to the sun or lost in fantasy.
Pleasure can bring pain; pain can bring pleasure.
Past, present and future.
Overly filtering reality or living without a filter.
Not thinking or trying not to think beyond simple navigation.
We decide… one option is to make an informed choice.
What we are drawn to the most is a personal choice in an informed way or not.
Is the pursuit of pleasure different to finding purpose?
